All proceeds will be donated to the Developmental Disabilities Institute to celebrate and support neurodiversity. During this 6-Week Step Challenge, we will track our STEPS, MOVE CALORIES, and MINUTES OF EXERCISE. The results will be tracked using the STRIVE APP (iPhone) & GOOGLE FIT (Android). Anyone with a smartphone or smartwatch can participate. At the end of the competition, the results will be tallied, and winners will be selected based on total steps, move calories and minutes of exercise completed.

Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one “right” way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits. The word neurodiversity refers to the diversity of all people, but it is often used in the context of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning disabilities (Harvard Health, 2021).

Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) was founded in 1961 to address the special education needs of children with autism and other developmental disabilities and provide therapeutic intervention. Today, DDI is a dynamic, nonprofit, multi-site agency, each day serving hundreds of children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, providing educational, residential, habilitative, vocational, transportation, and self-direction support to the Long Island community. Their mission is to help children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities experience personal growth and fulfillment.
