Meet our personal trainer – Stephan Reyes.
Stephan is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Human Movement Specialist (HMS) through the Brookbush Institute. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from SUNY Oneonta and specializes in exercise science. Stephan has experience working with injury prevention and recovery, strength and conditioning training, and corrective exercise. Over the past few years, he has worked with a wide range of collegiate athletes to recover and return to gameplay at an optimal level of performance. In his free time, Stephan likes to workout at the gym and play basketball.
Stephan has worked with athletes across all sports, including soccer, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse and more. While studying at SUNY Oneonta, Stephan interned at a Sports Medicine clinic. During this internship, he learned about the rehabilitation process including the use of corrective exercise in an athletic environment. After working with a wide range of athletes from different sports, one athlete stood out. This athlete was a baseball player who tore his MCL. For the athlete, this was a major setback because it meant that he was out for the season and may never be able to return to play again.
Stephan was able to work side-by-side with the athletic trainers to rehabilitate the injured athlete. The athlete’s determination and desire to recover motivated Stephan to work with him tirelessly until he was able to return to the field. This internship taught Stephan about the importance of corrective exercise, accountability and discipline in a person’s ability to succeed, even in the most difficult situations.
